Facebook is a free mini-blog social media site. According to Facebook stats, Facebook users number over 582 million worldwide now, and over 190 million of those members are in North America. If you haven't started blogging yet, you might consider a Facebook business page for starters.
The numbers are compelling. According to Facebook's recent stats, illustrated at right by digitalsurgeons.com, 41% of Facebook members log in every day, 40% follow a brand on Facebook, and 51% of brand followers will purchase that brand.
Twitter is a free micro-blog social media site. According to Twitter's recent stats, also illustrated at right, 27% log in every day, 25% follow a brand, and a whopping 67% of brand followers will purchase the brand they follow.
LinkedIn is a business-oriented professional network site with over 80 million members. This site is great for publishing a professional profile, establishing expert status in your field, and networking — and it requires less frequent maintenance than a blog.
